um...

Rented Hitch today. Cute, charming, mildly funny, um, tool of the patriarchy but whatever. I enjoyed it anyway. You know, I really don't ask for a lot in a movie. Minimal gore, dialog that is other than turgid (yes George Lucas I am talking to you), and don't ever threaten a child, and you've pretty much got three stars from me.

Also, just because I took the Seahawks logo down, does not mean I don't love them anymore. Verily, I do. But the traffic-hazard lilacs in our yard are just about to bloom, and I want them to know that they are welcome! And they should please hurry up!

(Uh, yeah. The, uh, lilacs... read my... blog. Sure...)

Oh! Song! Du Jour! Of the Day! Luno, by Bloc Party. The intro totally reminds me of New Order. It's just me, right? Yeah, probably.

Heh, those sounds like pretty good movie criteria to me. FWIW, I can still see the Seahawks.

I liked Hitch for the most part, too. And I love your new background!

I have to be the voice of dissent here- I didn't think so much of Hitch. Especially Eva Mendes (aka "Chick Needs Acting Lessons"), whose character was the epitome of the irrational female stereotype.

Okay, done now.

Agreed, Kel, and if a movie has an intelligent woman in addition to my other requirements I'll bump it up to four stars. But Hollywood seems to have a particular interest in perpetuating the stereotype of the irrational female, so if I made that a deal-breaker I'd see a lot fewer movies.

Yes, there are movie-makers outside of Hollywood, but not enough of them, and if you want them to be intelligent and respect women too, the list gets even shorter.

am I totally uncool that I never know any of your songs of the day?

No, you're way cooler than I am, because you taught your kids how to do the Bus Stop. I totally wish I could do that. Also, I was gonna use a Tom Petty song but you beat me to it.

The song du jour thing is me making an effort to find out about new stuff, so it's kind of intentionally obscure. But I'll put some old stuff in too, because that's really more true to my musical taste.
