oh, y'know, whenever

I talked to Jerry the other day, he says he still hasn't scattered Mom's ashes. My brother says Jerry operates on 'Aloha time', which is the best way of putting it I've ever heard, and is the way I operate, actually. It'll get done when it gets done, and meanwhile, she's sitting on the back porch in her cookie jar, with a view of the garden. So she can see that Mrs Buyer comes over to take care of it, even though we haven't closed yet, and she will know that the new owners will love her garden as much as she did. Which is as it should be.

Song du jour of the day is Days, by Elvis Costello.

I have a very good friend who held on to her Dad's ashes for years, alala! YEARS that man sat on her mantle.

Yeah, but we said her ashes should be scattered in the garden she loved so much, and the house is in the process of being sold. Once someone else owns that garden, it'd be a little weird, putting her in it, you know?

*good point. Favorite park maybe?

I think you should press for the garden before the house is sold, love, if that's what she wanted. Tell him that you + bro have set a particular day, and that you'll be thinking of her overseas that day. That way you are all sharing in the scattering...
